When the official show was cancelled, Stockholm's designers did something better

The Stockholm Furniture Fair was cancelled. Rather than accept defeat, over 100 studios, brands and independent designers banded together to create their own design week — with more than 200 events across the city. Dezeen calls it a groundswell.

Echo at Kanonverkstaden brought together ASKO, Bang & Olufsen and Fredrik Paulsen. The Building hosted String Furniture and Gemla. Young designers showed at ArkDes through Ung Svensk Form. Even a prison furniture project, Breva mig!, found its stage at Etage1.

What we love about this story is the attitude behind it. When institutions step back, the creative community steps up. It's the same spirit that drives Scandinavian design at its best — resourceful, collaborative, rooted in craft. The kind of thinking that shapes everything from furniture to the frames on your face.
